YouTube AI is officially upgrading your viewing experience! These YouTube updates are part of YouTube's ongoing experiments with AI to make your time on the platform more efficient.

YouTube AI: Get ready for a smarter YouTube experience! The platform is currently rolling out a couple of exciting YouTube updates powered by YouTube AI. These new AI features are all about making it easier for us users to find information quickly and truly grasp video content. Announced recently in an official blog post, these additions are part of YouTube’s ongoing experiments with AI to continuously improve how we watch and learn.

One of the biggest changes coming is the introduction of an AI carousel in search results. Imagine you’re looking for something specific, like “best beaches in Hawaii” for a travel plan or shopping tips. Now, YouTube AI-powered search results carousel might pop up at the very top of your results, giving you a scrollable collection of AI video clips in search. These clips come with quick descriptions from video content, helping you get a gist without even clicking into the full video.

The whole point here is faster information discovery YouTube, meaning you won’t have to wade through multiple videos just to find what you’re looking for. This particular feature is currently in testing with select YouTube Premium members in the US and works exclusively in English on the YouTube app for both Android and iOS. You can actually tap on the main clip in the carousel to jump directly into the full video. This test is expected to run until July 30th, so if you’re a Premium user in the US, keep an eye out for these smarter YouTube results.

Conversational AI for More Users

Along with expanding video search, YouTube is also expanding access to its chatbot AI feature. The feature rolled out in 2023 as a benefit only for YouTube Premium subscribers. It’s really neat – it enables you to ask questions regarding a video you’re watching, gives you suggestions of other related content, and even tests you on what you’ve learned, also very useful for educational content. Now, YouTube confirms that certain non-Premium users in the US will also start seeing this tool show up under some videos. It’s a big step towards making those AI tools more available.

While both of these YouTube experiments are still in the testing phase, YouTube emphasizes that they’re committed to making it simpler for users to delve deeper into topics and learn effectively through video. As these AI features gradually roll out, you might start noticing more YouTube AI-driven enhancements across the platform, especially if you’re primarily using it on your mobile device.
