Volkswagen Golf GTI : Volkswagen Golf GTI has finally arrived in India, and it’s quite the statement. They’ve launched it with a starting price of Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom), which, honestly, makes this Volkswagen hot hatch the most expensive car VW sells here right now. It’s actually the second time we’ve seen a “GTI” badged car in India, the first being the Polo GTI from a while back. What’s interesting is that they brought these in as Completely Built Units (CBUs), and the limited number of cars allocated for India have already flown off the shelves. So, if you wanted one, you’re probably too late!
Looks That Turn Heads
This Golf GTI is the eighth generation, and it really holds onto that sporty vibe we know from the international versions. You can get it in some cool colors: Kings Red Premium, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium, and Moonstone Grey. The design details really make it stand out – think unique 18-inch alloy wheels, those sharp black accents on the front bumper, and a prominent twin exhaust outlet. And of course, the GTI badge is proudly displayed on the front doors, flanked by those slick Matrix LED headlamps.
Step Inside: Tech and Comfort
Inside the Golf GTI, it’s all about being driver-focused and modern. The main attraction is a big 12.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. You’ll also find a dedicated GTI-specific digital display with cool red accents. As for creature comforts, it’s got wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-zone climate control to keep everyone happy, heated and adjustable front seats, and paddle shifters for when you want to take control. Plus, there’s a clear 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster giving you all your driving info.
Power on Tap
Under the bonnet, the Volkswagen Golf GTI in India packs a serious punch with its 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine. This four-cylinder engine churns out a healthy 265 hp and 370 Nm of torque. All that power goes to the front wheels via a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. To make sure it handles all that power well, it even has an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock. Volkswagen says this Golf GTI can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph. Pretty impressive for a hot hatch, wouldn’t you say?
