The OnePlus Nord 5 is edging closer to its official launch, and if the latest reports are anything to go by, we might see it unveiled within the next few weeks. A fresh Geekbench listing has just surfaced, shedding light on the phone’s internal hardware—and it’s a bit of a surprise.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Confirmed, Not MediaTek

Earlier speculation had leaned towards the Nord 5 being equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset. But that no longer seems to be the case. According to the listing, the device—model number CPH2707—will instead run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. That’s a fairly notable shift, moving the phone into more performance-oriented territory. It’s clearly trying to elbow its way into the premium mid-range category.

The chipset is paired with a solid 12GB of RAM, which should help with multitasking and overall responsiveness. As for the benchmark numbers themselves: 1,977 on single-core and 5,090 on multi-core—numbers that suggest it’s got some serious power under the hood.

Android 15 Out of the Box with OxygenOS 15

What’s also intriguing is the software. The Nord 5 appears to be running Android 15 right out of the gate, likely dressed in the new OxygenOS 15 skin. If that holds true, it could be one of the first OnePlus devices to ship with the next-gen Android version. That, in turn, hints at a stronger focus on future-proofing and software support.

Display and Cameras: Familiar Yet Polished

Leaked details point to a 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate—pretty much in line with what we’ve come to expect from phones in this range. Visually, it should be quite sharp and fluid.

On the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera that’s probably going to do a fine job for video calls and casual portraits. Around the back, a 50MP primary shooter with OIS is expected to be joined by an 8MP ultrawide. It’s a combination that seems aimed at striking a balance between quality and versatility, especially in different lighting scenarios.

Massive Battery and Super-Fast Charging

Now, here’s where things get really interesting. One of the more surprising leaks suggests the Nord 5 might pack a 7,000 mAh battery. That would be a substantial leap, potentially putting it among the highest-capacity devices in its segment.

To sweeten the deal, 100W wired charging is also rumored. If that pans out, you’re looking at a device that not only lasts a long time but also charges fast enough that battery anxiety might become a thing of the past.

So, while nothing’s official just yet, the OnePlus Nord 5 is shaping up to be a seriously compelling option—especially if these specs hold true at launch.
