London-based consumer tech brand Nothing, co-founded by Carl Pei, has officially confirmed the launch timeline for its next major smartphone release. The company is set to unveil its latest flagship — the Nothing Phone (3) — in July 2025, marking a significant milestone in its product roadmap.

Evolution of Nothing’s Smartphone Lineup

The upcoming launch will arrive two years after the release of the Phone (2) in July 2023. During this period, Nothing expanded its product offerings beyond premium flagships by introducing a more budget-friendly ‘a’ series of smartphones. These included devices such as the Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro, all of which offered essential features while retaining core elements of the Nothing experience — most notably a simplified version of the Glyph Interface.

In parallel, the brand also diversified its portfolio with the launch of a sub-brand, CMF by Nothing. This new division debuted two smartphone models, with the CMF Phone 2 Pro being the most recent addition, continuing the company’s experimentation with affordable, yet well-designed consumer electronics.

Return of the Signature Glyph Interface

Nothing made waves in 2022 with its debut model, the Phone (1), featuring a distinctive transparent back and the now-recognizable Glyph Interface. This design philosophy, aimed at creating visually unique and intuitive tech, was refined in the Phone (2), which brought more power and polish. While the ‘a’ series adopted a toned-down version of this design to prioritize practicality, the forthcoming Phone (3) is expected to bring back the full Glyph Interface experience.

This next-generation model is rumored to incorporate premium materials and deliver robust performance, setting the bar higher for a 2025 flagship.

Design, Innovation, and the Future of Nothing

Speaking at The Android Show: I/O Edition, Carl Pei reiterated the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries in product design. He emphasized that the company continues to focus on seamless integration with Android, and on crafting devices that feel “joyful and original.” According to Pei, innovation at Nothing isn’t about rushing — it’s about timing, scalability, and purpose.

In a recent interview with CNBC-TV18, Pei commented on the broader vision:

“I think our best ideas are for later. We’ve been super practical about the way we run this business, because, as you can imagine, it costs a lot of money in engineering to develop each new product… therefore, we are quite conservative in the innovation that we bring to the market over time. As the volumes grow, as the margins grow, that’s when we can dare to be more innovative in our product approach.”

This suggests that while the company’s transparent design language has become its hallmark, its boldest innovations are still in development.

Expected Price and Features of the Phone (3)

At the Android-focused event, Carl Pei hinted that the Nothing Phone (3) might retail for around £800 (roughly $1,064 or ₹90,500), placing it in direct competition with other flagship smartphones in the premium segment. For context, the Phone (2) launched at £629, and was priced at ₹49,999 in India for the 12GB + 256GB configuration.

The Phone (3) is expected to begin with a similar memory setup, but what sets it apart is the introduction of AI-powered features, potentially positioning it as a smarter and more responsive device than its predecessors.
