Rockstar Games has officially dropped GTA 6 aka Grand Theft Auto VI’s Trailer 2, offering fans an exciting new look at the much-anticipated sequel. Captured on PlayStation 5, the trailer dives deep into the gritty story of protagonists Jason and Lucia, while also introducing a rich cast of supporting characters and detailing the vast, vibrant state of Leonida — Rockstar’s take on Florida.
The Story: Crime, Chaos, and a Tangled Past
According to Rockstar, Jason and Lucia have always known the odds were against them. When a seemingly easy score spirals out of control, the two find themselves embroiled in a sprawling criminal conspiracy that spans Leonida. The narrative emphasizes survival, trust, and ambition in a world where the sun shines bright, but the shadows run deep.
Jason, a former Army man raised by grifters, now finds himself working for drug runners in the Keys. After meeting Lucia, he hopes to break the cycle and build something new — if they can survive long enough to do it.
Lucia Caminos, fresh out of prison after doing time for protecting her family, is determined to change her fate. Raised to fight and hardened by experience, she dreams of a better life, one her mother once imagined in Liberty City. With Jason, she sees a potential path to escape her past — but she’s prepared to do whatever it takes to secure her future.
Supporting Cast: Colorful Characters from the Leonida Underground
The trailer and newly updated GTA 6 website also unveil a colorful array of supporting characters that populate Vice City and beyond:
Cal Hampton, Jason’s internet-addicted friend, hides from the world while eavesdropping on Coast Guard channels and sipping beers.
Boobie Ike, a Vice City legend, now a businessman with interests in real estate, clubs, and music, partners with up-and-coming mogul Dre’Quan.
Dre’Quan Priest runs Only Raw Records and is ready to break into the mainstream music scene with his artists.
Real Dimez, the fiery duo Bae-Luxe and Roxy, turned from hustling dealers to viral rap stars. Now signed to Only Raw Records, they’re looking for their next big hit.
Raul Bautista, a seasoned bank robber, is always chasing the next high-stakes heist.
Brian Heder, a slick old-school smuggler, helps Jason get by while operating a low-key operation with his wife Lori in the Keys.
Expansive World: From Beaches to Backwoods
Set in the sun-soaked, vice-filled world of Leonida, GTA 6 promises an incredibly detailed open world that draws heavy inspiration from Florida, blending urban grit with tropical beauty. Here are some of the featured locations:
Vice City – The iconic neon metropolis returns, more vibrant and sprawling than ever. Expect pastel-drenched hotels, Cuban neighborhoods, beach life, flea markets, and the bustling VC Port.
Leonida Keys – A chilled-out archipelago that masks danger beneath its laid-back exterior.
Grassrivers – A swampy wetland full of gators and even more dangerous secrets.
Port Gellhorn – A faded tourist town now thriving off back-alley economies fueled by alcohol, pills, and truck stop caffeine.
Ambrosia – A gritty industrial town where sugar refineries and biker gangs rule the streets.
Mount Kalaga – A national landmark on the state’s northern border, home to hunters, mystics, and anti-government radicals.
Technical & Launch Details
Rockstar confirmed the trailer was captured on PlayStation 5, and the visuals suggest a massive leap forward in detail, realism, and immersion. The game remains a console exclusive at launch, with PC support expected later. Originally slated for a Fall 2025 release, GTA 6 has now been delayed to May 26, 2026, adding to the anticipation of what’s already the most eagerly awaited video game of all time.
This delay makes the wait between Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 exactly one year, five months, and two days, closely mirroring the gap between trailers for GTA 5.
Our two cents
GTA 6’s second trailer paints a thrilling picture of a high-stakes, character-driven narrative set against one of Rockstar’s most ambitious worlds yet. With Jason and Lucia’s criminal odyssey as the emotional anchor, a vast and vibrant cast of outlaws and hustlers to meet, and a hyper-detailed Leonida to explore, Rockstar is once again aiming to redefine the open-world genre. Trailer 2 not only fuels the hype — it firmly establishes that Grand Theft Auto VI will be nothing short of a cultural event when it finally launches in 2026.
