As the launch of the 2025 Kia Carens Clavis nears, the company has officially revealed the detailed feature distribution across its variants. Among the most notable updates is the introduction of a panoramic sunroof, a first for the Carens nameplate. However, this premium feature will be restricted to specific variants and engine types within the new Clavis lineup.
Sunroof Availability Varies by Engine and Variant
The Kia Carens Clavis will be available in seven trims: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX, and HTX Plus. However, the inclusion of a sunroof is not uniform across all variants.
Only the HTK Plus (O), HTX, and HTX Plus variants are equipped with any form of sunroof. Of these, the HTK Plus (O) variant features a single-pane sunroof, available with both turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. This makes it the most affordable variant in the Kia Carens Clavis lineup to offer this feature.
Moving up the range, the HTX trim introduces a notable difference based on engine selection. While the turbo-petrol version is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, the diesel engine counterpart continues with the single-pane sunroof found on the HTK Plus (O).
At the top of the range, the HTX Plus variant is offered exclusively with the turbo-petrol engine and comes standard with a panoramic sunroof. Notably, naturally aspirated petrol variants of the Kia Carens Clavis are confined to lower trims and do not feature any type of sunroof.
Interior and Tech Features
In addition to the new panoramic sunroof, the Kia Carens Clavis is packed with premium cabin features. The car will come with dual 12.3-inch screens—one serving as the driver’s display and the other as the infotainment unit. An 8-speaker Bose sound system delivers enhanced audio, while comfort features include ventilated front seats, sunshades for the second row, and a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
Safety Equipment
On the safety front, the Kia Carens Clavis offers a comprehensive set of features. It includes six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and disc brakes on all wheels. It also gets modern conveniences like an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
What adds to its appeal is the inclusion of Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). This suite includes advanced features like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, enhancing both safety and driving comfort.
Engine and Transmission Options
The presence of multiple gearbox options like iMT (clutchless manual) and DCT (dual-clutch automatic) with the turbo-petrol engine adds flexibility for buyers with varying driving preferences.
Expected Pricing and Market Competition
The official prices of the Kia Carens Clavis are set to be announced on May 23, 2025, with an expected starting price of around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned strategically in the premium MPV space, it will compete with vehicles like the Maruti XL6, Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and even Kia Carens itself. It is also expected to act as a more affordable option when compared to larger and more expensive MPVs such as the Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Innova Hycross, and Maruti Invicto.
